Rancho Verde Story: Part 1 – Beginnings:
Rancho Verde is a 589 acre residential mountain community with a mixture of old growth pinion forests, grassy meadows and sweeping vistas. Located in the East Mountain area of New Mexico about 20 minutes east of Albuquerque via Highway I-40, Rancho Verde is comprised of two parcels of land which are being developed by John Mallick and Chris Green through Sedillo 500, Inc.
The first of these two parcels, 469 acres, was acquired by John in the late 1970’s in a land swap arrangement with the Federal Government’s Environmental Trust and sat in a vacant state until development started on the property to the immediate east. John and Chris decided to undertake the development of Rancho Verde, purchased an additional contiguous 120 acres from the Presbyterian Church and, in 1990, began the planning process which led to the creation of 255 residential lots and 245 acres of permanently dedicated Open Space.
As of February 1, 2019 a total of 170 view lots have been developed over four phases with 130 lots sold, 65 homes built and several more homes in the planning process. Sales within Rancho Verde are handled by Bill Nelson of Remax Alliance Realtors in Albuquerque. Bill is resident in Rancho Verde where he and his wife, Janet, built their own new home.
